The birth was not as planned, which now that I read my birth plan it is hilarious and says all these things like how I'd love to have him in water and how I don't want to have any drugs, and actually I had my first contractions on a Thursday evening and Thomas was born on a Sunday. It was a very long time and very, very slow, and my body didn't seem to get what it was supposed to do, so I ended up having to be induced and I did end up having an epidural. So it wasn't as planned, but for me, the epidural was completely fantastic, I was in a brilliant hospital, I had great medical care and the end result was Thomas. So the birth was brilliant it just wasn't textbook. I'm not one of these mums who can say they didn't have any drugs, I did and a lot of people do, that's what they're there for.

Although not what she expected, Kate was happy with the birth.
