I found the first few weeks with him really fantastic and better than I thought. There were a lot of people that told me it was going to be incredibly difficult, so we had a sense that our lives were going to change completely, we were really quite scared about the lack of sleep and how it was going to impact on things. But actually the experience of going through the birth, and the elation of having a new baby, and then all the attention and support we got from friends and family made it a really special time. I feel quite sad now that he's already ten weeks, he's growing up so fast and that time is over. I had my moments, I remember particularly coming home from the hospital and the first day waking up, just bursting into tears and thinking, oh my god this is absolutely terrifying, I was quite overcome with the idea that I've had this baby and I've got to look after it. I've got no experience of babies at all, so that was kind of hard, but actually that was the only time that happened. After that so quickly they become your baby, you get to know them and know what they like and what they don't like, and you feel more confident, so actually it was a really positive experience.
I had no experience of babies at all before he came along
Overall Zoe's first weeks with her baby were positive.
