When I first went into labour I wasn't sure, but when I started to time the contractions, it was quite obvious that I was in labour. Don't rely on the show or the waters breaking, because mine didn't break and I didn't really have a proper show. Just make sure your partner is timing the contractions, then you soon know that it is happening.
