Short skirts banned at school worried about 'sexualisation of young' Posted by Emma

Headteacher Don Smith told parents a total ban was the best policy because ‘we did not want to arrive at a situation where we were telling girls skirts could be only a certain number of centimetres above or below the knee’.

Pupils, parents and teachers at Paget High, near Burton upon Trent, were consulted.

However, the parent of one pupil said: ‘I think girls should be allowed to be feminine.

'Other schools manage to let girls wear skirts while making sure they are not inappropriately dressed. I don't see why Paget can't do the same.'

The new rules also require Muslim head-dresses to be 'school blue' colour.

Paget High is among a growing number to ban skirts altogether rather than to police their length.

Is this political correctness gone mad? Do you think girls and boys should dress the same for school? Have your say on the discussion of the day...
