Twitter went mad this weekend as an anonymous account was set-up to reveal the name of the Premiership footballer involved in the Imogen Thomas super-injunction row.

The married footballer, who is said to have spent more than £200,000 so far in his thwarted bid for privacy, is believed to be taking action against Twitter bosses and account holders who broke the injunction to name him.

Several international newspapers, including US business magazine Forbes, have unmasked the player in question. Scottish paper The Sunday Herald have even posted a picture of the footballer, saying that the injunction did not apply in Scotland.

Imogen's adviser Max Clifford said: "There is this whole battle between freedom of the press and the right to personal privacy.

"I don't understand why the footballer's lawyers went after Twitter. He is making the situation a farce and increasing the damage to himself. He has been very badly advised and has come across as badly as possible. My advice to him is to stand up and be counted. It has become obvious that his name will come out.

He and his advisers have turned it into an absolute disaster."

In our video, Penny Mansfield, Director of One Plus One, the UK's leading relationship research organisation, recommends confronting a partner if you suspect they may have been cheating.
