Kelly Bickell said that she hoped that her son Ronnie was having more fun in a “better place” than he did during his short life.
Ms Bickell fought a right-to-die legal battle against the father of her 13-month-old baby after he refused to accept medical advice and switch off his ventilator.
Her son, known during the November 2009 court case as Baby RB, suffered from a rare neuromuscular disorder which made it almost impossible for him to move his arms and legs, or even smile.
His parents could not agree on what was best for the baby, with his father wanting everything possible to be done to keep the child alive.
But after six days of evidence, the father – Mr AB – changed his mind and agreed with medical opinion that his son should be allowed to die in peace.
