Spring time in Paris It's A Mummy's Life

So I was in Paris last night for a dinner with a big, important client and a meeting today with two super-cool global club owners/artists/friends of Mark Ronson (that's how cool they were). There's a sentence I never thought I'd write. As a 37 year old mum of two trying to keep body and soul together whilst balancing 65 million plates, I felt deeply uncool in the bar surrounded by the best that Paris Fashion Week had to offer.

What is it with sunglasses indoors? I mean, just why? Although the collective shaking, itching and general look of being dug up hinted at why sunglasses might have been a blessing. I imagine the amount of eyes they were shielding, if unmasked, would have given the bar an even redder hue than the vintage leather sofas created.

It was a rather interesting peer into another life. A life I would never have had (I'm just uncool, it's in my DNA) but then again given my mother was a model in the super hip 60's perhaps not altogether unfeasable. It was with relief that I boarded my old friend the Eurostar and tucked into the warm, acidic white wine. But I was most impressed when having tweeted that the wine was hideous, Eurostar tweeted me back to say 'sorry the wine is not to your liking'. Nice. Shame I didn't see that particular tweet until I was safely home or I might have had a bubbly surprise delivered to my seat for my colleague and I to share.

On the topic of getting back home, I was met with the predictable shrieks of delight followed swiftly by the shrieks of jealous rage from one child to the next as I juggled them both in my arms. The Eiffel Tower snowstorms courtesy of the Tabac at Gard du Nord were quickly smashed on the floor. Eliza in a rage and Tilly as she slipped on the gunk that oozed out of Eliza's. Oh well. Silly mummy error. Why oh why would you buy those for a 1 and 3 year old? Will I never learn? Probably not.

The trip and the project that I am working on that led me there are reigniting something of my original passion for the career I chose. Something of it. That's a start.

And oh my God, how delighted are we that Spring appears to be here? Well it was warm in Paris anyway...
