Results from a recent parenting study, due to be officially published on Monday, claim that David Cameron was wrong to suggest that only families from deprived backgrounds should benefit from SureStart facilities.
According to the results of the Demos survey, 27% of middle class parents felt that not having a support network in their wider community was their biggest parenting issue.
A Department for Education spokewoman said: "The government wants to retain a national network of Sure Start children's centres offering services that all families can benefit from and targeted interventions for the most vulnerable."
