Before having her twins Fonz and Ez, now nearly twelve months, Heather spent her spare time renovating and decorating the house she lives in with her husband of almost four years. Now she spends her spare time trying to make her house look less like a bomb has hit it, and more like the lovely family home she always wanted it to be. After maternity leave she gave up her much-loved job as the Interiors Editor on a glossy mag to start a freelance career writing for various homes magazines, and is striving for that eternally elusive work life balance.
1. What's the best bit about being a Mum?
The little gifts that your babies give you countless times a day. The intimate smile, the huge belly laugh, the next 'milestone', the growing interaction and understanding between you, the endless cuddles. Watching these tiny little creatures turn into people bursting with character. That's the best bit.
2. What's the most challenging bit about being a Mum?
You need endless patience, something I've never been good at. The loss of control, and the endless unpredictability of your days can be hugely frustrating. Managing this frustration, and the guilt about feeling frustrated is an ongoing battle.
3. What are your guilty tv and food pleasures?
I am a sweet addict. There's nothing better than a good mixed bag of penny sweets from my local newsagent. My favourites are giant strawberries, and I'm also rather partial to a fizzy strawberry lace. I used to watch a lot of rubbish telly before I had babies, started blogging and discovered Twitter. Now there's not much time left for TV. But I do love the Next Top Model franchise, whether it's the search for an American, British, Canadian or Australian top model! I have also been known to get hooked by Heir Hunters on a weekday morning.
4. What's your idea of perfect happiness?
Babies in bed, me in a hot bath with a G&T and the latest issue of Grazia.
5. What annoying habit drives you mad?
My husband's complete inability to put his dirty socks in the laundry basket. I once opened my handbag in the office, only to pull out one of his dirty socks that must have landed in my bag.
6. Who's your secret celebrity crush?
Ewan McGregor. I went to see him twice in Guys & Dolls in the West End because my seat wasn't close enough to the stage the first time around.
7. If money were no object what would be your daily extravagance?
Oh I'd do an Elton, and fill my house with beautiful fresh flowers. And a live-in cleaner would be pretty darn good too.
8. If you could change one thing about the world what would it be?
I find the huge gap between rich and poor pretty depressing. I wish I could change that.
9. What's your theme song?
I'm crap when it comes to music. I love listening to it, and used to go to plenty of gigs but I don't have the kind of mind that catalogues music. Even before I had babies, my music memory just didn't function properly. I'm going to opt for Hakuna Matata from the Lion King.
10. What is your motto/favourite phrase?
Don't worry, be happy. I'm a born worrier, so I try to repeat this mantra when I'm feeling particularly stressed.
Bonus ball: Which CBeebies character would you sleep with?
I haven't had the pleasure to join the ranks of CBeebies yet. I'm champing at the bit to throw myself in!
