A place of my own

http://youfoundkelshidingplace.blogspot.com/

I’ve been a blogger much longer than I have been a mum and I am still working out how to manage both of those things. I am married to Mr C and I am currently on maternity leave after the birth of my second child five months ago. We are still in that stage where you can barely remember your name but I always remember the password to my blog. I write about my family, my life and myself. I am truthful and honest and writing keeps me almost sane.

1.What’s your blog about?
Me and my life. My family. Anything and everything that I think about.

2. When and why did you start writing your blog?
I started my first blog in June 2005. I blogged anonymously and all was fine until I got drunk and told all my friends about it! I soon felt restricted and so started my current blog in July 2007. Over the years I have stopped being anonymous and stopped caring who reads as long as I get to write.

3. How long do you spend blogging and what do you enjoy?
Like many busy mums I don’t get as much time to blog as I would like to. I write posts as and when I have a spare ten minutes. I write about anything and everything that is on my mind. Getting it all out of my head and onto a page helps me function day to day.

4. What have been your blogging highs and low, triumphs or disasters?
Blogging highs would be reading one of my posts in the crowdsourced keynote at the end of CyberMummy 2010 and being nominated for Best Pregnancy Blog in the MADS 2011 (a complete shock as all I did was complain about everything when I was pregnant the second time). I am very fortunate that my lows have been few and far between, especially considering the time I have been blogging.

5. Is blogging a job or a hobby? What would be the ideal outcome?
For me it is a hobby. It is one that I will have more or less time for as my circumstances change. I cannot imagine not writing in some way and I hope to continue for a long time.

6. How easy is it to set up a blog – and have you any tips for newbies.
The initial set up is very easy especially using a platform like blogger or wordpress. My advice would be to think about your name before you start (my blog name and url are different and occasionally it really annoys me). Also, be yourself. If you do you will find your voice.
