Mum's the Word

I am a happily married Mum of one. I have a beautiful Daughter, an amazing Husband and the world’s most handsome dog. I write with integrity and passion and won't apologise for anything you find on Mum's the Word. I do, however, love a debate and am more than happy to hear what other people think. A self-confessed tech-addict and clingy Mum, I'm happier at home with my family and my laptop than anywhere else in the world.

1.What’s your blog about?
Just about anything I want to write about! It's a hugely personal space where I wear my heart on my sleeve and talk about life, my family and my views on the world.

2. When and why did you start writing your blog?
Last October, as a way to help me deal with the trauma I went through with my Daughter and as an outlet to help me cope with my slightly over-active brain!

3. How long do you spend blogging and what do you enjoy?
It varies greatly from day-to-day, but I tend to wait for a spark of inspiration before I start to write.

4. What have been your blogging highs and low, triumphs or disasters?
My blogging highs have been numerous, I've been handed so many wonderful opportunities since I started. I now write for several other publications such as Brew Drinking Thinkings and iVillage and vlog for UKMums.tv, and have just been chosen as a vlogger for Ubisoft, the computer games company.

One of my greatest blogging highs to date is setting up another site, Maternity Matters with my friend Susanne, where we help parents who've suffered a birth trauma and work with the Birth Trauma Association to raise awareness.

I don't think I've had many lows or disasters yet, touch wood!

5. Is blogging a job or a hobby? What would be the ideal outcome?
I take blogging seriously and treat it with the same importance as a job, but it's SO much better than any other work I've done before!

6. How easy is it to set up a blog – and have you any tips for newbies.
Setting up a blog is a piece of cake, and if you've got the determination to make it work, you'll do well.
