Mummy Musings

I’m Emma, mum of one whirlwind toddler and wife to a very lucky man. I work part time as an accountant and the rest of the week is spent having fun with my daughter, blogging and tweeting.

I blog about all aspects of our lives but especially enjoy writing about our days out, camping trips and the recipes we try.

1.What’s your blog about?
My life as a working mum, trying to juggle motherhood with a career.

2. When and why did you start writing your blog?
I started my blog in April 2010 after seeing more and more people publishing their posts. I’d been reading blogs for a few months before deciding to start my own to record the little things about my daughter that I didn’t want to forget.

3. How long do you spend blogging and what do you enjoy?
Blogging is usually done in my lunch break at work or in the evenings when C is in bed. Actual time spent writing is only a couple of hours a week but time spent promoting the blog on various social networks is quite a lot longer!

4. What have been your blogging highs and low, triumphs or disasters?
The highs would have to be being a finalist in the Britmums Brilliance in Blogging awards in 2010, and making the shortlist for best working mum blog in The Gurgles 2011.

I also loved attending Cybermummy in 2011 and meeting all the bloggers I’ve been tweeting with and reading about for the past couple of years!

5. Is blogging a job or a hobby? What would be the ideal outcome?
For me it’s definitely a hobby although, like a lot of bloggers, I think it would be nice to make it something a bit more.

6. How easy is it to set up a blog – and have you any tips for newbies.
Very easy! I started out with wordpress.com but went self-hosted after 6 months. If you do run into problems there are always people about on twitter or various forums who are willing to help out.

My baby’s getting big!

We had a visit from the local nursery last week to discuss things before C starts in September.  Everything went fine; C was her usual chatty self and  the teachers who visited were lovely (one has actually been there since time began and taught both myself and M!) C is really looking forward to starting [...]
