Mummy's Space
http://www.mummysspace.com/Hi! I’m Mags, an ex software engineer turned stay-at-home mummy who has happily given up busy city working for a life spent in our West London home looking after our very energetic toddler called Ben. Every day I find myself a little more amazed by him and his antics - sometimes scary (as in spiderman impressions), sometimes laugh out loud funny moments (too many to pick one) and others quite frustrating (strong willed toddler tantrums). I love being a Mummy!
1.What’s your blog about?
My blog is my space to share my adventures in motherhood and how I see the world. My inspiration for my blog is my son, Ben.
2. When and why did you start writing your blog?
I started this blog shortly after Ben was born in September 2009 but didn't begin blogging properly until June 2011 and now I'm hooked.
3. How long do you spend blogging and what do you enjoy?
I am totally hooked by blogging. I love it and blog nearly everyday, usually when Ben is asleep or otherwise occupied. I have regular posts on my favourite baby items, Ben’s favourite iPad / iPhone apps and I take part in The Gallery and Silent Sunday. Generally if there is something I want to share or keep a memory of recorded I do so by blogging. I have also started blogging for the HuffPost UK and I find I write about more topical, often news related subjects there.
4. What have been your blogging highs and low, triumphs or disasters?
Highs: One Sunday I asked my husband to help me redesign my blog and we spent an evening coming up with a new logo and playing about with graphics and colours while Ben napped for an unusually long time. It was lots of fun (bear in mind we are both geeks) and it felt good to share my blog which is my thing with my husband in this way.
Lows: Attempting to start a meme and asking people to join in but although there were lots of hits no one commented or joined in. I would like to try and start one again sometime but feel a little burnt by this experience.
5. Is blogging a job or a hobby? What would be the ideal outcome?
A hobby. I have to admit I’d love if my blog became more popular but who wouldn’t? Right now I’m enjoying having somewhere that is mine to share and record my thoughts and everyday things that happen. I feel like it is growing slowly so I’m just going to keep blogging and hope for the best.
6. How easy is it to set up a blog – and have you any tips for newbies.
I set mine up in Blogger and found it really easy to get it up and running quickly. My advice is to just jump in there and start writing for you. After a few weeks I think you find your voice and your style and it really does start to feel good.
