2. What’s your professional background and training?
I have been a midwife for 6 years, obtaining my diploma in 2005 and my degree in 2007. I am also a qualified mentor for student midwives and I am about to commence a Diploma in Complementary Therapies for Pregnancy and Childbirth in October 2010.

I currently practice as a midwife in all areas of the hospital including Antenatal, Labour ward and Postnatal.
4. What do you most like about your profession?
I enjoy being able to help women have the best possible experience of pregnancy and childbirth and I am greatful for being able to share this experience with them and their famililes.
5. What do you most dislike about your profession?
The long 12 hour shifts can be tiring but it is important to give women continuity of care and that is what I choose to do.
6. What have been your biggest highs and lows on the job?
Midwifery is a very unpredictable job to do, the highs and lows are countless but I can count more highs for sure.
7. Any golden rules or tips that you swear by?
Sleep. When some one is deprived of this, they don’t function at their true potential. So I always advise sleep when baby sleeps.
